HALO Youth Wrap Up March's Life Skill - Accountability!

HALO youth have been learning about and practicing accountability throughout the whole month of March as our featured life skill. This past week, youth wrapped up our Accountability month by creating images of short-term goals they have, and then writing down the steps they can take to hold themselves accountable for those goals.

Scroll through to see what our HALO youth will be holding themselves accountable for this week! For more information on how you can help HALO youth, visit our website at haloworldwide.org or like us on Facebook

This HALO youth wants to try to be healthier by eating more fruit - what variety, too!

Acc2
This HALO youth took her art in a more 3-D direction to show how her goal is to be a better Christian. Some her steps were praying and showing kindness to everyone.

Getting an A on that next Math test is the goal for this HALO youth - she plans to ask questions, study with her tutor, and focus!

HALO Gets Some Fuzzy Friends!

Animals! Cute, fuzzy, warm and fluffy–man’s best friend, right? Of course! Well, at the HALO Learning Center – KC, we’re welcoming some fuzzy faces as new friends!
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) has been a form of therapy widely researched and proven for its beneficial effects of relaxation. HALO – KC felt like this would be a great (and cute!) service to offer to the youth during their art workshops.
Our first furry guest was Hawk, a short haired Collie, and his owner Jennifer. Hawk, Jennifer, and HALO Youth had a blast hanging out together and having some relaxing fun.
Scroll through the photos for to check out the adventures of Hawk and HALO! For more photos and other HALO information, please visit our Facebook page.  If you want to volunteer and be part of HALO’s mission, go to www.haloworldwide.org.

HALO's Birthday Recap!

On February 27th, the HALO Foundation celebrated it's 10th year at their annual Art Auction. Besides celebrating the Art Auction, HALO made the event a birthday bash to honor all of they youth they support who don't know when their actual birthday is due to their circumstances.
Two HALO Learning Center - KC youth were asked to speak at the event about how HALO - KC has "made their wish come true".  The night ended with a dance party with live music from local band, Lost Wax.
HALO youth, staff, volunteers, and supporters all came together on this one magical night to celebrate 10 years of empowering youth in the greatest need. Overall, from beginning to end, every second was a fun, creative, and energetic celebration of the HALO Foundation, and even more importantly, the youth they support.
Scroll through these fun photos from the festivities!

HALO Youth Tie Up February!

To wrap up February's Life Skill of Self-Discipline, HALO Youth worked hard (and fought the cold!) on self-tie fleece pillows!
HALO Youth made their pillows in a workshop with a local children's shelter. While the pillows are soft, snuggly, and warm, self-tie fleece pillows take a lot of focused work and determination. Precise measuring, careful cutting, and tight tying are all required to make a self-tie fleece pillow last and stay together. HALO Youth certainly worked hard, though, and got to bring home their pillow with them to keep them warm in all of this snow!
