Happy Halloween from HALO!

HALO Youth took a small break from lessons to celebrate a creative and spooktacular Halloween! They got to make masks and pumpkins and decorate any way they wished--from glitter galore to painted and polished, the HALO youth got to spend some time just to let their imaginations shine. They had a wonderful time getting to let their minds take them wherever they wished.
So, whatever you are doing this Halloween, where ever you are, HALO wishes you the happiest of Halloweens!

HALO Youth Give Back!

HALO youth got messy to give back!

The HALO CSI--Community Service Initiative--group was created to help teach our youth the importance of giving back to your community. The group has worked to go around to different Kansas City organizations and teach HALO youth why volunteering is so important.

The first organization that HALO youth went to was KC Pet Project! On a Saturday afternoon, HALO youth got to tour the facility, learn a little more about KC Pet Project, and of course--pet some incredibly cute and incredibly sweet puppies.

Then it was time to get down to business! KC Pet Project had a huge need to clean and sanitize their kennels. So, the youth spent the entire afternoon cleaning and sanitizing kennels for the dogs and cats. They got super messy--but also had a lot of fun!

To learn more about KC Pet Project, visit their website. To find out more information about the HALO CSI group, contact Aubony Chalfant at aubonychalfant@haloworldwide.org. For more photos and other HALO information, please visit our Facebook page.  If you want to volunteer and be part of HALO’s mission, go to www.haloworldwide.org.

HALO Youth Are Dreaming Big!

A new lesson has started at HALO: dream journals!

For the next eight weeks, HALO youth are going to work on creating their own unique journals filled with art that illustrate their dreams. From doctors to sports stars; from entrepreneurs to teachers, HALO youth are using their journals to plan out how to make their dreams reality! Each page is dedicated to developing their personal dreams with titles such as "My Dreams Page" and "What Are You Passionate About?". With their dream journals in hand, our youth will be ready to conquer the world!

HALO Wraps Up September With a Splash!

To end September's life skill of integrity, HALO youth made integrity boats! For any boat to set sail, the structure has to have integrity. With this in mind and a specific amount of foil, HALO youth set to work. Among the boats, there were many creative names in the mix, including the S.S. Mayflower Compact, S.S. HALO, and S.S. Titanic. The final test for the boats was a contest to see how much weight each boat could hold without sinking.
